EF Auto records another record year to almost reach $1b in sales

As Essendon Fields Auto gears up for a bumper 2024, Australia’s largest single site automotive precinct has recorded another record year in 2023, topping 21,000 in car sales worth close to $1 billion.

EF Auto already has 20 different brands on offer to the vehicle buying public, with another two new dealerships to be announced soon and the imminent arrival of Dutton One, to service Melbourne’s fast growing north-western region.

The Australian automotive market achieved an unprecedented milestone in 2023, breaking all-time records for new vehicle sales. A total of 1,216,780 vehicles were delivered during the year (the previous highest sales result of 1,189,116 was achieved in 2017), up 37% YOY vs 2022.

Essendon Fields Auto is pleased with another solid year of growth, and to see nine of the top 10 selling brands nationally for 2023 located within the precinct – Toyota, Mazda, Ford, Kia, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, MG, Subaru and Isuzu Ute. Last year sales volumes also exceeded 21,000 vehicles for the second year running, estimated to be worth close to $1 billion.

Essendon Fields CEO Brendan Pihan said the ongoing popularity of Essendon Fields Auto can not only be measured by the public being drawn to the precinct, but also new dealerships making the decision to move to Essendon Fields.

Our accessible location makes it the best choice for dealers and customers alike, with our freeway connections and proximity to Australia’s two fastest growing population corridors in Melbourne’s north and west providing a possible buyer catchment of up to 1.1 million within a 15 minutes’ drive,’’ said Mr Pihan.

“The used car category has certainly showed the most significant increase in sales at Essendon Fields Auto in 2023, up 37% year-on-year. We look forward to seeing this figure increase again with the impending Q2 opening of Dutton One.”
