Essendon Fields Airport is pleased that, Australia’s fast-growing regional airline, Fly Corporate has commenced direct flights between Wollongong and Melbourne.
Fly Corporate is operating 9 return (or 18 Services) per week between Essendon Fields Airport and Wollongong, offering business and leisure travellers in Illawarra the opportunity to connect with Melbourne without having to pass through Sydney
The Wollongong service further highlights the reputation of Essendon Fields Airport as Melbourne’s regional airport.
Chris Cowan, CEO of Essendon Fields Airport thanked both Andrew Major, CEO of Fly Corporate and the Mayor of Shellhabour City Council Marianne Saliba for working so hard to make this new service become a reality.
“This will be the biggest service from Essendon Fields Airport to the 3rd biggest city in NSW. We know that Fly Corporate’s service will be fast and reliable. This is the 5th new route to Melbourne established at Essendon Fields in the last 3 years. The feedback from regional passengers to the experience of landing here is overwhelmingly positive. They are amazed at how easy it is to transition through the airport and straight into Melbourne,’’ he said.
“Fly Corporate is exactly the right airline to provide a reliable and regular service to connect Wollongong to Melbourne. This direct service will save hours on a trip via Sydney and Melbourne Airport. We are currently in the process of a five-million-dollar upgrade to our terminal and are allowing plenty of extra space to cater for the anticipated growth of this important service,” he said.
Shellharbour Mayor, Marianne Saliba, said she looked forward to the start of Fly Corporate services and was confident the community would support the new airline.
“We are lucky to have such an experienced and well established company servicing our city. We know from experience just how popular the Melbourne route is and I am sure this will be no different,” she said.
